"Lucknow ki Rachi Basi Tehzeeb" is the 2016 festival theme. The culture of Lucknow is typically thought of as "Ganga-Jamuni", a duality of Hindu and Muslim traditions. But various ethnic groups and communities from different regions form an important part of the kaleidoscopic tehzeeb found in the city. The Bengali, Punjabi, Maharashtrian, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Gujarati, Anglo Indian, Chinese, Kumauni, Gadwali, Oriya and many others settled in Lucknow over decades, and together they embellish and add color to Lucknow's cultural canvas
